Simone Hopes Talks About Simply Shady and Queen Aesthetics on HCCTV
Recently, I got to talk with Dr. Lana on a popular talk show HCCTV. It was a special moment for me because I shared my journey with Queen Aesthetics and my new product, Simply Shady. I was so proud to talk about my business and how Simply Shady helps people with all skin tones protect their skin.
Let me walk you through what we do at Queen Aesthetics, why I started Simply Shady, and what’s next for my business.
Queen Aesthetics: A Unique Med Spa in Houston
Queen Aesthetics is a med spa located in Houston. We offer high-end beauty treatments, helping people look and feel their best. Some of our services include Botox, fillers, and skincare treatments. Our goal is to treat everyone like royalty and make them feel beautiful inside and out.
As a plastic and dermatology physician assistant, I love mixing health with beauty. I started Queen Aesthetics to give people treatments that make them healthier and boost their confidence.
Simply Shady: Sun Protection for All Skin Tones
Simply Shady is a product I created to solve a problem. Many sunscreens don't work well for darker skin tones. They often leave a white film on the skin, which doesn't look good. Simply Shady is different. It's a Tinted Moisturizing Mineral-Based Sunscreen that blends smoothly with every skin tone—from the lightest to the darkest.
I wanted a sunscreen that protects the skin and feels great to use. It hydrates the skin and helps with dark spots. I’m proud that Simply Shady can help everyone protect their skin from the sun.
Filling a Gap: Sunscreen for Darker Skin
When I looked at the sunscreen market, I noticed that many sunscreens weren’t made for people with darker skin. This made it hard for them to find products that worked without leaving a chalky look. That’s why I created mineral-based tinted moisturizing sunscreen.
People with darker skin need sunscreen just like anyone else. With Simply Shady, no one has to feel left out or use a product that doesn’t work for their skin.
Our Grand Opening: A Memorable Event
The launch of Simply Shady was an amazing night. Over 150 people came to support us and learn about our new product. The event was filled with excitement, and we even had a skin diagram to show why sunscreen is so important.
We also explained the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreens. Guests got to try mineral-based tinted moisturizing sunscreen, and the feedback was great. It was a fantastic start for a product that I believe will make a big difference in skin care.
Sunscreen for Men: Why It’s Important
During the talk show, Dr. Lana mentioned something interesting. Many men don’t use sunscreen, even though they spend a lot of time outside. Her son plays soccer, and her husband races cars—both get sunburned because they skip sunscreen.
That’s why Simply Shady has a special product for men. It’s a clear sunscreen that goes on smoothly without leaving any tint. Men can protect their skin without worrying about how it looks or feels.
My Journey: From Houston to Entrepreneur
I grew up in Houston, Texas, in a big family of eight kids. I was the first in my family to go to college, thanks to a full basketball scholarship. I studied biochemistry, but my real passion for healthcare started when I shadowed a physician assistant. Watching how much they cared for patients inspired me to follow that path.
After school, I worked at Texas Children’s Hospital in surgery. Later, I moved into plastic surgery, where I saw how beauty treatments can change lives. That’s when I started Queen Aesthetics and started Simply Shady.
Non-Surgical Beauty: My Focus
I love surgery, but I know not everyone wants it. That’s why I focus on non-surgical beauty treatments at Queen Aesthetics. We offer injectables and skincare treatments that give people the results they want without surgery. These treatments are safer and have less risk.
My goal is to help people look and feel their best with non-surgical options. I believe in enhancing natural beauty safely and effectively.
Winning the HCC Business Plan Competition
Winning the 2024 HCC Business Plan competition was a big moment for me. I entered the competition because I needed a plan to grow Queen Aesthetics and start selling products like mineral-based tinted moisturizing sunscreen.
The competition gave me the tools I needed. My mentors, Leanne and Alejandro, helped me understand marketing and securing funding. Their advice made Simply Shady possible.
Mentorship: The Key to Success
Leanne and Alejandro played a huge role in my success. Leanne shared her marketing knowledge, and Alejandro helped with the financial side. I couldn't have done it without them.
This reminded me how important it is to have a good team. Success isn’t achieved alone—you need people who believe in you and your vision.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Queen Aesthetics
I’m excited about the future of Queen Aesthetics and Simply Shady. Next, I plan to attend the Mattress Mack School of Selling to grow my business even more. I’m also applying for the 10,000 Small Businesses Program, which will help me expand.
Beyond business, I want to give back to the community. I hope to become a judge in the HCC Business Plan competition and help other entrepreneurs. To me, it’s important to lift others as I grow.
Conclusion
My talk show appearance was a great chance to share my journey. I’m proud of what Queen Aesthetics and Simply Shady have achieved, and I’m excited about what’s next. From launching new products to helping others, the journey is just beginning.
